Career preparation built into your degree
At Human Ecology, career preparation isn’t something you do after graduation. It’s built into your experience from day one.
Step 1: Explore your options
Leadership Symposium / Career Pathways (1 Credit)
Hear from alumni and employers working in fields and organizations related to your major. You’ll connect with working professionals, learn about different career paths, explore industry trends, and discover how Human Ecology graduates are making an impact in a wide range of fields.
You’ll leave with:
- More confidence about your interests and goals
- A better understanding of career options related to your major
- Connections with professionals and alumni
Step 2: Prepare for your internship
Inter-HE 202: Career & Leadership Development (1 Credit)
Clarify your career goals, build your personal brand, and learn how to stand out in the internship search process. You’ll build your résumé, strengthen your professional presence, explore internship opportunities, and learn how to communicate your skills and experiences to employers.
You’ll leave with:
- A polished résumé and cover letter
- A stronger personal brand
- A plan for finding and applying to internships
NOTE: Inter-HE 202 is required before enrolling in the internship course.
Step 3: Gain real-world experience
Inter-HE 601: Internship (3 Credits)
Put your skills into practice through a hands-on internship related to your major and career goals. You’ll gain professional experience, apply what you’ve learned through your coursework, build your network, and develop the career readiness skills employers are looking for.
You’ll leave with:
- Real-world experience to prepare you for your next step after graduation
- A broader network of professional connections and references
- Greater confidence in your career path
